Our Story
This is a collaborative effort of Center for Youth Advocacy and Networking Inc., United Nations for Population Fund Philippines, and SheDecides Philippines. The Sanctuary Project is one of the major projects of Student Council Alliance of the Philippines as a response to the lack of safe spaces and culture of violence in universities.
The project is inspired by sexual assault response centers in the United States led by volunteer advocates that provides assistance and empowerment to survivors. In the Philippines, not all universities recognize the demand for establishing an Office of Anti-Sexual Harrassment that usually offers psychological and legal services to protect survivors of sexual harassment.
Our Mission
The Sanctuary Project aims to strengthen institutinal and community response to university-based violence, raise awareness on the harms of sexism and misoginy, empower students to be active agents for social justice and provide opportunities for feminist education and advocacy organizing.
Our Vision
The Sanctuary Project aims that by 2025, schools and universities in the Philippines have their own functional Gender and Development Office
